Fresh berries taste similar to bland tomato, but after cooking the flavor develops into something memorable.  Fabulous in jams and desserts! Save back small seeds from a few berries and you'll have a sustainable fruit source for your family year after year. 
When to Enjoy: Harvest fruit in summer when fully ripe and plump. Ripeness can be determined when they pull easily from the plant and are deep black in color with no green tinge. 
Warning: Green or Unripe berries should not be consumed.
